Free to Breathe Launches New Online Community to Provide Important Support to People Facing Lung Cancer

MADISON, WI — Today Free to Breathe launched an online community on the HealthUnlocked network which will provide valuable support and information to people living with lung cancer. This initiative joins our Free to Breathe Support Line, which launched in April of this year, as another way for people facing lung cancer to get the answers they need throughout their journey with the disease.

Free to Breathe is a partnership of lung cancer survivors, advocates, researchers, healthcare professionals and industry leaders united in the belief that every person with lung cancer deserves a cure.

The new community is an online space for people with lung cancer and their loved ones to ask questions of others going through similar experiences along with staff experts. It will share news about research and treatment advances that are important for those in the lung cancer community to know. Finally, it gives lung cancer survivors, caregivers and healthcare professionals a unique opportunity to offer their own advice, support and mentorship to others in the community.

The HealthUnlocked technology makes tailored health related recommendations, directs people to useful information, connects them with others like them and highlights research activities, such as clinical trials, that may be of interest.

"This community will offer people a new space to interact with one another, share their stories and get advice from others who understand," said Sherie L. Reinders, Chief Operating Officer of Free to Breathe. “Building and empowering the lung cancer community is very important to us, and we are excited to offer this new way for people with lung cancer, and their families, to connect.”

“Support and information are one of the largest factors in people managing their own health. Our communities provide vital support, allowing people who are experiencing similar health issues to ask questions and receive information," said Chief Medical Officer at HealthUnlocked, Matt Jameson Evans. “This new community has the opportunity to transform and dramatically improve the lives of many people.”

Patients and survivors with lung cancer, their caregivers and healthcare professionals are all encouraged to join the conversation. Visit the Free to Breathe Support Community today.
