The 8th Annual Lung Cancer Action Summit is taking place in the New York City metro area from 9/17-9/20. At this year’s Summit, attendees will learn how to work with Free to Breathe to:
The Summit includes an expert-guided lab tour at the Neuberger Berman Lung Cancer Research Center of Weill-Cornell Medical College where you'll get to meet and talk to Free to Breathe research grant recipients. You'll also hear key note speaker Sean Swarner share his powerful story of how he became the first cancer survivor to stand on top of Mt. Everest.

And, for the very first time, there will be a full day of sessions and activities just for survivors! View the Survivors and Thrivers Day Agenda to see what's in store and learn more about the day.
If you applied to the Summit, you will be notified of decisions by the week of July 21.
In order to ensure that participants have opportunities for constructive interaction and networking, attendance will be limited to 75 people. Applications will be evaluated based on essay submissions and the applicants' commitment to working alongside Free to Breathe to advance the lung cancer movement in their communities. Application is open to U.S. residents only. No previous experience with lung cancer advocacy is required, just a desire to take action in your community.
Were you unable to apply for this year's Summit? Fill out this survey and we will let you know when the application process opens next year!
Participants will be provided with most meals and three paid nights of shared hotel accommodation in the New York City metropolitan area (four for attendees of the Survivors and Thrivers Gathering). Individuals may opt for their own hotel room for an additional fee. A number of travel scholarships are available (up to $500) for participants who require assistance with transportation expenses.
If you have questions about the Action Summit, please contact Alice Yuroff.
New this year, anyone who has received a diagnosis of lung cancer is invited to attend an added day featuring workshops and activities specific to survivors!
The Survivors and Thrivers Gathering will begin with an optional Sunrise Yoga and breakfast. Bonus sessions will include "Taking Care of Your Health During and After Treatment" and "Finding Emotional Balance During Your Lung Cancer Journey". You can get a glimpse of the entire day of activities by viewing the agenda.
If you are interested in attending, you will be asked to indicate this on the Summit Application.
We're so excited to announce Sean Swarner as the Key Note Speaker for the 2015 Lung Cancer Action Summit. With only one functioning lung, a prognosis of fourteen days to live, and being in a medically-induced coma for a year, Sean Swarner is the first cancer survivor to stand on top of the world…Mt. Everest. Sean has broken through defined human limitation in order to redefine the way the world views success.
Hear from our 2014 Summit attendees about their reasons for attending and what they took away from the weekend.
